Jim Schwertner– Mr. Schwertner is President and Chief Executive Officer of Schwertner Farms, Inc., dba Capitol Land & Livestock and Chairman of the Board of Schwertner State Bank. Mr. Schwertner has served as past chairman of the boards of Cattlemen’s State Bank in Austin (which he organized in 1984), the Jarrell Schwertner Water Supply Corporation and the Texas Cattle Feeders Association. He also served on the executive committee of the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, was president of the Texas Livestock Market Association, and past chairman of the Texas Aviation Advisory Committee. Mr. Schwertner is an airplane and helicopter pilot and holds the Aviation World Speed Record (Piper Navajo). Jim Schwertner of Austin graduated from Texas Tech University in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics. Mr. Schwertner received the 2010 Distinguished Alumni Award from Texas Tech University’s College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. He serves on Texas A&M Board of Regents at College Station.  

 

 

Joe Crawford  

Mr. Crawford owns and operates Abilene and Lubbock Aero. He is a graduate of Baylor University BBA, Marketing. He has managed a variety of Business to include Marketing Manager for Firestone Tire and Rubber West Texas, Woodbridge Pizza, 50’s Classic Car Wash. Joe has acted as a Direc- tor for 27 organizations to include: First Financial Bank, Better Business Bureau, Abilene Chamber of Commerce, Hendrick Home for Children, YMCA, Baylor University Business School, and Texas State Technical College. Mr. Crawford is extensively engaged in charitable organizations throughout the state of Texas. Joe Crawford received Citizen of the Year 2011 from the Abilene Chamber of Commerce.   

David Norton (Founding Board Member)

  Head of Aviation Law for the Shackelford, Melton & McKinley law firm in Dallas, Texas. Mr. Norton served on the Federal Aviation Administration's Part 135 Advisory Rulemaking Committee, and is currently serving as the Industry Co-Chair of the RVSM LOA Process Enhancement Team of the Performance-Based Advisory Rulemaking Committee. He served in the US Airforce from 1984 through 1993 as a KC-10A pilot and aircraft commander. Among other ratings, Mr. Norton holds an ATP license and CFII / MEI certificates. He is a former Chair of the Aviation Section of the State Bar of Texas, as well as of the National Business Aviation Association's Domestic Operations Com- mittee, and is a member of the National Transportation Safety Board Bar Association, the Lawyer- Pilots Bar Association and the AOPA Legal Services Panel. Mr. Norton received his law degree from Southern Methodist University (cum laude). He also earned a Masters in Business Administration from Louisiana Tech University and an undergraduate degree from the United States Air Force Academy.  

Shelly Lesikar deZevallos, Ed.D. (Founding Board Member)

Shelly is President of West Houston Airport.She is a licensed commercial multi-engine instrument pilot for over 30 years. She earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Texas, an MBA from Texas A&M University and Doctorate in Education, aviation and space science from Oklahoma State University. Shelly is a member of the Transportation Research Board and a Board Member of the National Business Aviation Association.  She is passionate about aviation education including bringing young students into the industry.  

 

Karon Wiedemann: 

Karon is the former fund coordinator for Texas Department of Transportation Aviation Division. Mrs. Weidemann currently works for Garner Consultants as an aviation fund coordinator. Karon Weidemann brings over 39 years of airport development, grant funding, and contract management experience. Her extensive years working with funding for airport development in Texas has been through the Texas Department of Transportation, Aviation Division where she directed the finan- cial, budget, contract and grants activities of the division. Her hard work and dedication to serving her customers brought her the Texas Department of Transportation Raymond E. Stotzer, Jr. Award in 1999, and the National Association of State Aviation Officials’ State Aviation Distinguished Service Award in 2009.  


 

Bob McCreery

Bob McCreery is owner and manager of McCreery Aviation Co., a full service FBO located in McAllen, Texas, for the past 34 years. He is a graduate of Sam Houston State University in Hunts- ville Texas with a BBA degree and holds a Commercial pilot rating. McCreery Aviation Co. has served the South Texas general aviation community for the past 65 years in McAllen. Bob is active in local organizations serving on boards to include: McAllen Chamber of Commerce, McAllen Air- port Advisory Board, American Cancer Society, Quinta Mazatlan Nature Center and McAllen Country Club.
